I did my training with Steve Droy at the Piano technology school in Northampton, learning how to tune pianos with a modern approach. This training course was an introduction to tuning and maintenance and gave me a foundation from which to work from. Over 5 Years (and many more training courses later) now and I can certainly say that I have a fantastic client base with many happy customers who I really enjoy working with and for. I am a pianist also and this enables me to relate closely to the needs of the players I work with. It also means I can more accurately tailor the instrument (within the pianos own parameters) to the needs of the individual customers preferences. This could including voicing the hammers to bring a more rounded and softer tone, or making the action lighter to make dynamic phrasings easier to play.
